The brother of Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas chose to receive cancer treatment at the Assuta Medical Center in Tel Aviv, according to Hebrew media reports.

Abu Lawi, 76, is the third member of Abbas’ family to receive treatment at this Israeli hospital.

According to Ynet, Abu Lawi lives in Qatar. The report states that since being diagnosed with cancer, he flies to Tel Aviv for each new round of treatment and then returns home.

Israeli doctors regularly treat Palestinian patients.

In October 2015, Abbas’s brother-in-law underwent life-saving heart surgery at the private Assuta Medical Center.

In June 2014, Abbas’s wife, Amina Abbas, underwent leg surgery at the same Assuta Medical Center in Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s mother-in-law, daughter and granddaughter have all received medical treatment in Israeli hospitals.
