A Ukrainian delegation of senior government officials and military personnel came to Israel recently through Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ MASHAV Agency for International Development Cooperation to learn about Israeli models of accessibility, inclusion and rehabilitation.

They took a course at the International Institute of Leadership in Kfar Saba and attended the Access Israel Conference on The Future of Accessibility.

The Ukrainians plan on establishing a national rehabilitation center in Lviv for people injured and disabled by the war.

Like the Old City of Jerusalem, Lviv is also an ancient city. So one of the delegation’s activities was a tour of the Old City with Dr. Avi Ramot, who as head of SHEKEL’s Israel Accessibility Center planned and implemented an accessibility overhaul of the cobblestoned area.

They also took an accessibility tour of the Tower of David Jerusalem history museum and the Knesset, two additional sites made accessible through the SHEKEL center, to learn about accessibility of an ancient cultural venue and a parliament.
