You don’t need a playground to have fun in Israel. When the cotton is being harvested into huge bales, play time takes on a whole new meaning.

Cotton has been grown in Israel since ancient times, but was only revived as a crop in 1953.

Today it is grown all over the country, and is Israel’s main irrigated field crop. Eight-five percent of the lint is exported, mainly to Europe, according to the Cotton Production and Marketing Board, the rest is used in local mills.
