A joint declaration on operative cyber defense cooperation between Israel and the United States was signed during the sixth annual International Cybersecurity Conference at Tel Aviv University, taking place June 19-23.
Some 5,000 government, industry and academic representatives from 45 countries are attending the conference.
Among the many events over the course of the week were the first-ever CyberStorm Startup Competition as well as individual roundtable discussions on commercial, academic and governmental cybersecurity cooperation between Israel and Spain, Singapore, China, India, Italy and the United Kingdom.
It was announced that Israel will be among the first countries in the world to join the DHS Automated Indicator Sharing initiative, designed to create an automated platform between governments and companies for the efficient and rapid sharing of information in order to thwart or deal with cyberattacks.
The US-Israel declaration acknowledged that an international integration of forces can more effectively deal with joint cyber threats, management of cyber events and cyber defense of critical infrastructures. The declaration mentions building partnerships with the private sector and research and development vis-à-vis innovative technologies and solutions.
On the final day of the conference, the IEEE International Conference on Software Science, Technology and Engineering is taking place in Beersheva.
